Winetrain to Balatonlelle to Garamvári sparkling wine cellar
Travel, Gastronomy and Culture… All this three belong to our new service, to the Winetrain projekt.
With our Winetrain we visit the foremost wine country of Hungary traveling by Árpád rail car.
We get a taste of the region’s culture, wines and history.
Balatonboglár Wine Region
Similar to the other wine regions around Lake Balaton, the region’s microclimate is determined by the proximity of the large body of water. Warm summers and mild, snowy winters create ideal growing conditions for the local vineyards along the south shore of Lake Balaton. Full bodied whites and champagne dominate in the Balatonboglár wine region, although red grapes, especially Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, have played an increasing role lately. The Romans were the first to plant grapevines in the region over 2000 years ago.
Olaszrizling (Italian Riesling) is the dominant grape of the region, followed by Chardonnay and Sárgamuskotály (Yellow Muscat).
Notable wines include: Chardonnay, Légli Olaszrizling, Boglári Tramini, Királyleányka and ’BB’ champagnes.
Garamvárii, Légli(named the national ‘Winemaker of the year’ in 2010)
The Winetrain starts from the historical Nyugati Railway Station. After the departure we serve our guest with some sandwiches, coffe, tea and mineral water. During our trip we present some information about the city and its history and about wines.
Than when our train arrived to Balatonlelle, and with a bustransfer we visit Garamvári Szőlőbirtok. In the winecellar we make a cellar tour, enjoy a wine presentation and taste some type of the products.
Our dinner is also being presenting here.
After the dinner we travel back to the shore of Balaton and have some time until our train departure and we travel back to Budapest with Árpád the motor car.
