The legendary ÁRPÁD diesel fast railcar to Subotica

The legendary ÁRPÁD diesel fast railcar of the Hungarian railways was built by Messrs. Ganz & Co in 1934 on their own initiative. The fast railcars entered international service first between Budapest and Vienna, covering the 278 km distance in less than 2 hours and 57 minutes. With the growth of the Class more and more domestic express trains - Inter City trains - were put in service. The railcar named ÁRPÁD is at the disposal for the public again after the restoration in 1987.


• First Class: 9.990 HUF/person

The fare of the train includes the round way ticket and seat reservation. The crew of the MÁV Nosztalgia Ltd. ensures the convenience and providing information about the journey and the destination as well. We are looking forward our kind guests with welcome drink and morning bites. Backwards we will prepare some small surprises for you.
At the buffet of the train cold and hot drinks are available. During this journey we are not able to ensure any kind of meals. Thank you for your understanding!
Maximum capacity: 64 persons

The tickets must be purchased in advance, at least the last workday before the journey. Tickets are not available upon departure.
Travel documents: Valid identification card or passport (must be valid for a six month long period after the day of the travel) is a must for children and adults as well.
Official currency: Serbian Dinar


The most representative building of Subotica the City Hall which was built according the plan of Marcell Komor and Dezső Jakab in Art Nouveau style. It was constructed within two years (1908 – 1910) by the workers of the local firms.
Another fine piece of Hungarian Art Nouveau style can be found in the town for example the Reichl Palace and the Synagogue.
The most remarkable church buildings are: the Catholic Cathedral of St. Theresa of Avila from 1797, the Franciscan Monastery from 1723, the Orthodox churches also from the 18th century.

Of course it is extreme to compare this market with an Indian market, but what you cannot find there, that is truly not exist. So it is worth to strolling with open eyes, because you can find really treaures there.
