Travel, Gastronomy and Culture… All this three belong to our new service, to the Winetrain projekt.
With our Winetrain we visit the foremost wine country of Hungary traveling by Árpád rail car.
We get a taste of the region’s culture, wines and history.
Our first Winetrain’s way will lead us to Eger. This more than a thousand years old old town, with its glorious history, beautiful monuments, wines and with the thermal water is one of the most famous city of Hungary.
The city and region are famous for their wines. It produces both red and white wines of high quality. The famous and traditional varieties of the region are Egri Leányka, Egerszóláti Olaszrizling, Debrői Hárslevelű (whites) and Egri Bikavér (red). This wine region has a thousand years history and traditions with 30 protected origin wine. The oldest winecellars are more than 400 years old here, but nowadays newones are being founded too.
The Winetrain starts from the historical Nyugati Railway Station. After the departure we serve our guest with some sandwiches, coffe, tea and mineral water. During our trip we present some information about the city and its history and about wines.
Than when our train arrived to Eger, we make a short walk to the oldtown, and we visit the reconditioned Érseki Palota. In the building there is a nice coffee shop to have a rest.
From here we take a bus to arrive our main destination to Egerszalók. In the winecellar called St Andrea we make a cellar tour, enjoy a wine presentation and taste 6 type of the products.
Our dinner is being presenting by Macok Bisztró és Borbár, what is the best restaurant of the city.
After the dinner we travel back to our train by bus, and travel to Budapest with Árpád the motor car.
